Family Get-Together

We recently had a little family 'reunion' at my cousin's house for my mom's side of the family.  It seems we all are so busy, and get wrapped up so easily in everyday life, that we just never see each other.  It was great to visit with all of my cousins and aunts and uncles, and the kids loved playing with their little cousins as well!
Matt and Leigh came to visit from North Carolina.  We hadn't seen them since Ali was first born, and she's 5 now, so it was great to get to see them again.
And this is Elijah, Meredith and Nick's little guy.  His little brother is due to join us in the middle of October.  This kid is a hoot! 80-90 degree weather, and he was out there in his rain coat, rubber boots, and hat, running around and playing that he was a fireman.
The intent was to get a picture of all of the great grandkids together for my grandma, but unfortunately everyone couldn't make it.  We tried to do some of the kids that were there, but even that didn't turn out so well.  We tried to do it with all of them on the little play structures outside.  Guess what the kids wanted to do.  Yep... play!  It's times like these that I'm very thankful for digital cameras.  I must have taken a good 40 pictures, most of which had a large streak through it where one of the kids was exiting the picture, or disappearing out of sight.  It was quite humorous for the adults trying to take the pictures, as well as the by-standers.  I have to say, the uncooperative one in most of the pictures was my youngest son.  Nolan wanted nothing to do with a group photo shoot.  Any idea what happens when a toddler refuses to cooperate for pictures? That's right. You get what you get!
This was one of the attempts.... right before the boys headed down the slide and out of sight!
The older kids did great and tried so hard to cooperate, but it got old in a hurry!
My thought was, since all they want to do is go down the slide, why not do a train on the slide and get them all that way?  Nope. That didn't work either.  This was them in a heap at the bottom- Nolan being the most dramatic of the bunch!
The next thought was, let's have each of them look through one of the big holes on the play structure. Nolan and Eli, once again, lost interest real fast.
Doesn't Ali just look thrilled?!
Meredith and Nick have a big yard with a garden, and they are growing elephant garlic.  I was quite fascinated with the flowers that grow from the huge stems.  So was Kaitlyn, but I don't think it smelled quite as good as she had anticipated!

A common sighting with my parents around... Grandpa with the older two tagging along, and Grandma with the babies.

My Uncle Mike and Aunt Janet.  Awww... aren't they cute!!
Wheelbarrow races with the kids.  They loved it!  This is my Aunt Jenny with Katie.
