Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats

Our Friday night fun consisted of Mommy going grocery shopping, coming home and trying to find a place to put everything, then making a treat.  The request was Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats.  They turned out really good.  I found the Pumpkin Spice chips at Target.  That's the only place I found them this year, but then, I didn't look super hard either.  The original Rice Krispie Recipe was posted here, but I changed it just a tad.

Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats

5 Tbl. butter
10 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
A pinch of salt
1 cup Nestle Pumpkin Spice chips

Directions:

Melt butter in a large pan. Add 8 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows and a pinch of salt, and stir constantly until melted.  Remove from heat, and add Rice Krispie cereal.  Stir until well combined, then add additional 1 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows and Pumpkin Spice chips while still hot.  Press into bottom of greased 9x13 baking dish (or 8x8 if you like them really thick).  Let cool, then ENJOY!

(Note: These have a strong pumpkin taste.  If you want it to be a little more subtle, you can reduce it to 1/2-3/4 cup of the Pumpkin Spice chips.)

Corn Maze

We tried out a new corn maze this year.  We went to a place in Tualatin with Grandpa and Grandma Bauer.  Sonya and the girls came, as well a Lacey and Eric.  The weather was perfect, and we had a great time.
Nolan jumped in the driver's seat, and was willing to take us anywhere we wanted to go.  So sweet.  Maybe some day.
My attempt at getting a good picture of the kids. This was right before Nolan fell backwards into the corn.  Oh well. I tried.
On to the corn maze.  It was a mystery maze, where you had to find the clues, and figure out 'who done it'.  The kids really enjoyed solving the puzzle.

Hot on the trail, solving the crime
Waiting for the word to move forward
Grandma got a punch in her card.  Yeah!
Stopping for a rest along the trail
We took the stroller for Natalie, but she is very independent and didn't want to ride, she wanted to walk.  Nolan, on the other hand, was happy to fill her seat.  He wasn't near as easy to push through the rugged trails!  Grandpa so graciously took turns pushing the stroller.
Another attempt at a group shot of the kids.
Ok, I give up. Let's continue on.
We got quite turned around a few times on our quest, but we did finally solve the crime, and made it out of the maze with all of our participants.  It was a fun outing, and one we will definitely have to do again.  After all of our hard work, we celebrated with a trip to Mike's Drive Inn, for some dinner and pumpkin ice cream.  I love Fall!

Welcome Fall!

I absolutely love decorating for Fall!  All of the colors and candles make our home feel so cozy!
This was my great-grandma's sewing box.
My mom bought me my scarecrow Scentsy warmer for my birthday last year.  I love it!
We went by this field on our way to Salem. I had to stop and take a picture!
Welcome Fall!!!

Pumpkin fun

While we don't celebrate Halloween, we do celebrate and decorate for Fall.  That means lots and lots of pumpkins around the house.  The kids really wanted to carve out a pumpkin, so we did.
Gettin' all slimy, and having a blast!
Natalie was perfectly content to sit in her high chair, eat some snacks, and watch.
Silly girl
Mommy's turn!  The kids wanted me to try and make the Seahawk logo.
 The end result... lit up.
 With the lights off.
The kids were so excited when they saw it the next morning.  Talon thought he might want to try and carve one himself.  Uh, sorry, son, there's no way you're going at a pumpkin with a sharp knife. Maybe in a few years!
