Conversations with kids

Anthony was making toast and putting peanut butter on it.
Natalie: "You making peanut butter and jelly?"
Anthony: "No, I'm making peanut butter and honey."
Natalie: "I got honey in my ears."
Anthony: "You've got honey in your ears?"
Natalie: "Yeah, I got honey in my ears so I can hear you!"

Anthony told me about this little conversation they had, so I asked her a while later, "Hey, Nat, do you have honey in your ears?"
Natalie: "Um, yeah."
Me: "Why do you have honey in your ears?"
Natalie: "Because I pick my nose!"

Katie Quip

We were driving home the other day, and Kaitlyn hollers out, "Look mom, that sign says,
DON'T OWN HUBBARD!".

Conversations with the kids

Recent conversations with the kiddos...

Talon: "I've got hair on my arms!"
Nolan: "I've got hair on MY arms!"
Natalie: " I got haiw on my ampits!"

-----------------------------------------------

I took Nolan to Target with me a couple of days ago, and let him give my debit card to the cashier. Today, as we were driving in the car, he randomly asks, "Mom, did you put my card back in YOUR wallet???"

Conversations with Kids

We were talking about a friend of mine that was in the hospital having her baby.  She had been in labor most of the day, and that night, she still had not had the baby.  The kids had a lot of questions, most of which I delicately avoided, but we had taken some time to pray for her during the day.  When we stopped by my in-laws that evening, they asked if there was any baby news yet.  I told them no, but would keep them updated if I heard anything.
On the way home, Kaitlyn was just aghast that the baby hadn't been born yet.  After a brief moment of silence, she says, "I hope when I'm a mommy, and I have a baby, I don't have to stay in the hospital for a REALLY long time!".
To which Nolan replies, "I hope I don't have to stay in the hospital for a really long time, too!"

Conversation with Kids

Leaving for work tonight, I asked where Kaitlyn was so I could kiss her goodbye.  She pops up from behind the kitchen counter.  I asked her what she was doing, she said, "Cleaning the dirty dog prints off of the floor.  I just can't stand to have a dirty house!"
Music to my ears.  I love that girl!

Conversation with Kids

After I left for work last night, the kids came home after spending the night at Grandpa and Grandma Bauer's....

Anthony: "Did you guys eat dinner?"
Kaitlyn: "Yes."
Anthony: "What did you eat?"
Kaitlyn: "I can't remember what it was called.  It was a fast food place."
Anthony: "You don't remember if it was McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell..."
Kaitlyn: "I can't remember the name.  All I know is, the sign had a big white tooth with some red lines around it."
Anthony decided he might need to Google this one!  This is what he found...
Anthony (showing her the picture): "Is this it?"
Kaitlyn: "Yeah, that's where we ate!"

Laughing, he let her know that it was actually a hat, not a tooth.
Pretty accurate description, I think!  So funny!

Conversations with Kids

At the age of 5, Kaitlyn is very intrigued with the whole marriage thing.  She talks about when she grows up and gets married and has kids.  We've already had to discuss how it's not okay that she marries her brother or any of her cousins, and that she will most likely marry someone she doesn't even know yet.  I think that scares her a little bit right now.
The other day in the car, we were talking about something totally unrelated, and she randomly asks me, "Mommy, like, how do you find a husband?  Do you just...like...drive around in the car and look for a husband?  I mean, how do you find one?".
Oh boy!  Is it really starting already?!?!
