What will they say next???

We had a big day today. We took the kids to the zoo, then went by a pumpkin patch on our way home and the kids got to each pick a pumpkin out of the field. It was still about 88 degrees outside when we got home this evening, so I changed the kids' clothes, and we went out and filled up their little pool to cool off. As the kids ran around, I was chatting on the phone with my mom. Talon, never wanting to be left out of the conversation, had to come put in his two-cents-worth.

Talon: "Grandma, I went to the zoo and saw the monkeys and they climbed up on the branch."
Grandma: "You went to the zoo and saw the monkeys? Did you like the monkeys?"
Talon: "Pfffft... Are you kidding me?"

A few minutes later, Kaitlyn was sitting on my lap, I was halfway reclined in my chair, and still talking on the phone with my mom...

Talon: "Sissy, are you pwegnant?"
Me: "No, Talon, Sissy isn't pregnant."
Talon: "Oh. I am!"

The kids have really gotten into this baby thing. This morning, I was getting Kaitlyn dressed, and she asked her typical, "Where's baby?". So, I just asked her back, "Where is baby?".
Her reply (while patting her stomach) ... "In my belly!".

Another baby update...

So here's the latest on the little guy...
We went to the doctor today and had a growth ultrasound. I will be 37 weeks on Friday, and everything looks really good. He seems to be growing well now, and is estimated at about 6lbs, 3oz (approximately 38th percentile). I'm measuring right at 36 weeks, which is only about a week off of the actual gestation. The fluid level is great, and my blood pressure and everything is really good, so my doctor thinks we can still make it a couple of weeks before he gets here. With me still working full time, he could come a little early, but then again... he might just wait until his due date. I guess we'll see!

Baby Shower

Just a few pictures from my baby shower. Thank you too all the family and friends that came and spoiled us, and made the evening so special!!

My mom made the cake. It was adorable and delicious... as always!

All the gifts.
Like I said... we got spoiled!

I had to add this picture. Such a cute picture of the kids with Aunt Melanie!

Okay. I give in! I've had a rule that I don't do side profile pictures while I'm pregnant (well, at least not ones that I let people see!). But with all the people bugging me... here you go. This was at 35 weeks.
(Oh, and don't mind the emotional child standing behind me. She was a bit distraught that I dared to put her down to snap a couple of pictures.)

Katie Quip

We were riding in the car last night, and Kaitlyn was done drinking her juice, so she said, "Mommy, all done!". Anthony and I were talking, so I quickly reached back, took her juice cup from her, and turned back around in my seat. She waited a second, then said, "Mommy..." I looked back at her, and with an expectant look and smug smile she said, "...thank you, Sissy?". Oh, pardon me. I guess I forgot my manners. I should be honored that I get to hold her juice and pass it back when she calls for it. What a stinker!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Such a sweet picture of Talon and Grandpa.
One of his favorite activities with one of his favorite people.

Hope you have a wonderful birthday, Dad/Grandpa! We love you!

Randomness

Reading on the trampoline with Grandpa. Looks like a pretty serious book!

This is the horse we had when I was little. It's amazing the things that reappear when you get older. Kinda hard to believe it's still in one piece, and that the springs are in fairly good condition, after all the wear and tear 6 kids put on it. The kids love it!

Little Miss Attitude

Kaitlyn and Uncle Justin

Yet a few more pictures I snagged from my sister. She always takes tons of pictures when the kids are over at their house. I love it!

Big trike

This was Anthony's trike when he was young. We got it out and Talon has had a blast riding it. It's a bit rusty and could use a little spiffing up, but he doesn't care. He thinks he's such a big boy on it.

Taking Sissy for a ride on the 4-wheeler.
There's not much room on the seat, but they don't care. It's hilarious to watch, especially when one of them is trying to move forward and the other one drags their feet.

Popsicles

My sister, Melanie, took these pictures, so I snagged them. I love having a family full of picture freaks!

Shoes

This girl has a shoe fetish... unless, of coarse, they're her own! She loves putting on my heels and prancing around the house. The problem is, we can only tolerate it for so long. The sound of heels that are too big, clip-clopping on the tile floor, and echoing throughout the house for long periods of time... it's enough to make you want to rip your ears off! Even the dogs start to go crazy after a while!

...and Talon loves my goofy duck slippers. He runs through the house sliding on the floors with his football.

And when the shoe game gets old... it's time to go through Daddy's hat collection.
How can you not love that face? It has m-i-s-c-h-i-e-f written all over it!

Ni-Night!

Heading off to bed with her blankie and her dollie.

Talon Moment

I got home from work this morning, and was getting the kids bathed and dressed before I went to bed. I had already gotten Kaitlyn dressed and did her hair, and was getting Talon dressed. I was exhausted, I still had my scrubs on, and had taken my hair down and tied it back in a knot. Needless to say, I was quite a sight. I didn't know Kaitlyn was standing behind me.
Talon: Wow, you look really nice!
Me: (My heart melting at the words of my sweet son) Oh, thank you, Bubby!
Talon: Uuuhh... I was talking to Sissy!

Baby update

Just a quick update on the little guy...
I went to the doctor yesterday. She measured me, had a funny look on her face, checked my chart, and measured me again. Apparently, I'm measuring the same as I did 2 weeks ago. "This one doesn't seem to be growing very fast, and may be a little on the smaller side!" she says. Wow, big surprise! She didn't think it was drastic enough to get an ultrasound yesterday, but we have one scheduled in a week and a half. We're hoping to hold out for at least 37 weeks, but we'll see how every thing goes. The great news is that the baby has turned and is no longer breech... thank God!
My blood pressure and fluid level are great, and I'm still working full time and tolerating it pretty well... as long as I don't work too many nights in a row. I guess we'd better start getting things ready for this little man's arrival. Wow... time flies!
I thought this was a little humorous...
Someone came up to me at work a little over a week ago and said, "I've heard a rumor about you, promise me you wont be offended if I ask, but... I heard you were pregnant." It's amazing how much scrub tops can hide!

Pictures from Labor Day

These pictures were actually taken on Labor Day, and I'm just now getting around to posting them. We had a great Labor Day. We had some family over, and the kids had a blast playing outside with their cousins, Grandpa and Grandma, and all the fun aunts and uncles that have nothing better to do than run around the yard with toy guns, play hide and seek, and be at their every beck and call... or so the kids think!

Playing in the dirt... as always! Delani even decided to join in the fun.

Such a sweet picture of Sissy and Grandma!

What a handsome little man!

Taking a snack break... homemade molasses cookies. Yum!
I'd love to say that these are cookie remnants in Kaitlyn's mouth as well, but it's not. It's dirt! Can't hardly get the girl to eat food, but she'll eat dirt. ~Sigh!

Fun in the dirt

Who needs a sandbox?
We have huge gophers that make mountains of dirt in our yard. The kids think it is their personal job to level all of them. They love playing in the dirt. They get outside, grab their buckets and shovels, and they go to diggin' . Talon doesn't usually like being dirty, but I guess Kaitlyn has made it look so enticing, he just can't resist. There's just something magnetic about kids and dirt. Crazy!

Bath time!

Biker Chick

The kids grabbed their sunglasses and cowboy hats the other morning, and just ran around the house being crazy.

These two are the best of friends. It's so cute!

Baby update

We had a doctor appointment today and another ultrasound to check the growth of the baby. The ultrasound a month ago showed that he was an estimated 2lbs. 12oz, and in the 49th percentile for growth, today he was an estimated 4lbs. 2oz, and in the 33rd percentile. He is also in the breech position, but my doctor isn't too concerned about the baby's growth or the fact that he's breech at this point. There is plenty of fluid around the baby, and since he's not really big yet, she feels that there's plenty of time for him to change positions. We will have another ultrasound in 3 weeks to recheck growth and position. She made sure to let us know that the best way to track growth is with serial ultrasounds because there is a margin of error that has to be considered. She also stated that if this had been the only ultrasound we had performed, she would not be concerned with him only being in the 33rd percentile. Most of the weight is gained in the last 4-6 weeks anyway. (Hopefully that doesn't mean for me too!)
Someone made the comment that I should be eating bricks of butter to fatten this kid up. I assured them that calories and fat are not the issue. Apparently, the memo isn't being passed on that the weight needs to go to the baby!
I was going to post an ultrasound picture, but it turned out really dark, and I didn't think it would scan very well. He looks pretty cute though... can't wait to meet the little guy!!

Talon Moment

We've been talking about the baby a lot these days to the kids, trying to prepare them. I don't know how much they really grasp the concept of it, but we've heard this conversation between the kids more than once lately...

Kaitlyn: "Where's baby?"
Talon: "Baby's in Mommy's belly with my baby brother!"

I don't know where he got the idea that there's more than one, but Talon has an answer to every question his sister asks him. Well, anybody, really! It may not be completely accurate, but she takes it as gospel. She hangs on pretty much every word he says... which only makes it worse!

------------------------------

I told the kids that we were going to see Grandpa and Grandma later this evening, so all day I heard, "Are we going bye-bye yet?", and "When are we going to Grandpa and Grandma Bauer's?". When we finally were on our way over there, we went through Canby, which has many stop lights and a speed limit of 35 mph. After stopping at the 3rd or 4th light, Talon let out a very loud, exasperated sigh and said, "Man, this is such a slow van!".

Becoming such a big girl!

Kaitlyn has been very intrigued with the potty the past couple of weeks. Whenever Bubby goes potty, she wants to take a turn.
It actually started a little over a month ago... I went to check on her about an hour after I put her in bed, and as soon as I opened the door, she said, "Uh-oh, Mimi, it's broken!". (Note: whenever something isn't right or is out of place, she says "It's broken".) She repeated it a couple of times and kept pointing to the floor. I finally turned on the light to see what she was pointing at. There, in the middle of her bedroom floor, sat her wet diaper. It was then that I realized we may want to start the potty training process. We've already had a couple of instances where she has done a little 'finger painting', so we now have to make sure her diaper is covered when she goes to bed... lest we should awaken to a disaster in the mornings!
I got her this little frog potty chair and she loves it. She does really well. She still wets in her diaper, but if you stick her on her potty chair, she'll sit there until she goes, then says, "I ah done!". I often find her in the bathroom sitting on her "foggy potty" fully clothed and with her diaper on. She's such a participant and a go-getter, she'll probably be potty trained in no time!
