Sleepy girl

It's hard to believe Kaitlyn is already 6 1/2 months old! She had her 6 month check-up this week, she weighs 15 lbs. 6 oz, and is 24 1/2 inches long. (She's on the growth chart for the first time now- in the 26th percentile!)
In the words of Dr. Godfrey... "Well, she's not the tallest girl in class, but she's growing at a nice steady pace!". (Sounds good to me!)
Anthony snapped these pictures of her last night when she fell asleep in her exersaucer.

(Look at those cute, chubby legs!)

Schnauzerville

Anthony's parents have 2 Schnauzers as well, and we've been dog sitting for them while they are in North Dakota. It's been quite the circus around our house, let me tell ya! Talon loves it. They start running around and playing, and he wants to be right in the middle of it!

What's Talon been up to?

Well, let's see...
Last night, Talon clearly wasn't feeling well, so I let him go to sleep in our bed. He had a croupy cough, and had been running a fever off and on throughout the evening. He woke up around 11pm, crying and feverish. I picked him up to cuddle him, and he then proceeded to vomit all over both of us! Bathtime!! He woke up this morning doing much better.
This evening, after I gave Talon a shower, I wrapped him in a towel and left him in the bathroom while I ran to grab his diaper. Kaitlyn was sitting in her carseat on the floor playing with her toys. I walked back in to find Talon with his towel off, urinating all over the floor and the side of Kaitlyn's carseat. (Yes, Honey, I know... You told me so!)
Anthony called me at work to tell me about this one. He had gotten Talon ready for bed, and told him, "Ok, Talon, in your bed!" (meaning, it was time to go upstairs and get in bed). Talon just laid on the floor in the living room ignoring him. Anthony repeated himself a couple of times, and Talon just laid there with a smile on his face, and didn't move. Finally, Anthony got onto him, and Talon quickly ran into the dining room and sat down on Kiki's dog bed. Anthony told him, "No, Bubbs, on your bed!", and Talon just looked up at him like he was crazy. I guess he's heard us say "Kiki, on your bed!", and watched the results just a few too many times.

It's a CONSPIRACY!

Talon routinely sleeps until 9:30, sometimes even 10:30 in the morning. He then likes to play for a while before he eats breakfast. However, last night I stayed up until after 3 am cleaning house and doing laundry (just so I could do it without 40 MILLION interruptions). I fed Kaitlyn before I went to bed and she actually slept until after 9:00! Wouldn't you know it, this was the morning Talon was up and ready to eat breakfast at 7:20am!! I tried putting him in bed with me to see if he would sleep just a little longer. Nope! He just laid there and said, "Eat? Eat? Juice? Eat? Juice?...", then proceeded to stick his fingers up my nose and started giggling.
OK... I'm up!!

A bit small, Bubbs!

Talon managed to climb into the exersaucer when we weren't looking. He panicked a bit and let out a little squawk because he accidentally got both legs in the same hole in the seat, and couldn't move around. It was so funny! He played in there for a few minutes until we finally made him get out. I guess he was trying to relive the good times he had in his exersaucer. What a nut!!
(Anthony's first words: "Honey, you have to get the camera!")

First cookie

Kaitlyn had her first Gerber cookie yesterday. Yes, she loved it! Yes, she made a huge mess with it! I got a few video clips. It was so cute! Unfortunately, when I went to download them onto my computer, I realized I had taken them all with the camera turned sideways. What a dork! The worst part is... I do it ALL the time and I still haven't learned my lesson!

Bonus!!

I opened one of the boxes of cereal I got for almost nothing on my Albertson's run (previous post), and came across a little package in the bottom of the box. I figured it was some nifty action figure trading card, or colorful sticker for kids like we used to get out of the cereal boxes when we were growing up (you know the ones!!). Nope! Instead it was a $25 cash card. General Mills is doing a promotion right now, and 1 in 10 boxes of cereal has either a $5, $10, or $25 cash card. What a great surprise- especially since it was advertised right on the front of the box and I didn't even see it! (Why didn't they have those in cereal boxes when we were kids??) I quickly opened the other 7 boxes I got. Yep, just what I figured. ~Sigh!

Pink- Eyed Boy

Anthony, Talon, and I recently got over pink eye. Poor Talon, his was the worst. He was miserable for days. And how do you reason with a 2 yr old when his eyes itch and he's not supposed to rub them. He walked around constantly saying, "Eye? Eye? Eye?". He hated the drops, but was such a great sport when we had to put them in his eyes three times a day! (Better about it than his Dad, I might add!) ;0P
I took this picture on day 4 of our routine. By now, a lot of the swelling had already gone down!

Anthony captured this 'Kodak moment' with Kaitlyn. She had a headband on her head with a bow. She got the bow completely off , but had a little more trouble with the headband. She was very put out with the whole ordeal!

Crib set

This is Kaitlyn's new crib set. It's taken me a while to get the nursery done. Her room has been the spare room so far, and I had to take the crib apart to get it out of Talon's room and into hers.
I found the pink and white polka dot fabric so I can make curtains for the windows. I'm so excited it's finally getting done!

Talon had to get in bed with Sissy. She thought it was great, of course! He'd be happy to sleep in there if we'd let him!

Teething time

Yup, teething time! Kaitlyn has been drooling constantly lately, and she thinks it's great to blow bubbles with all that slobber. She has been quite cranky lately. We've tried it all- teething tablets, Tylenol, frozen pacifiers and teething toys, rubbing her gums with a cold washcloth...
With Talon, he ran a low grade fever for a day or two, he drooled a bit, and next thing we knew... he had a tooth! Not Kaitlyn. She's uncomfortable, and she is going to let everyone know it. We are going to suffer right along with her! Quite the drama queen, this one!!

Daddy's shoes

I walked into the living room and found Talon trying to put on Daddy's boots. He was pretty excited when I gave him the hat, too! He wanted to walk around the house in them, but found out the boots were a little to heavy for his little body to lug around. He quickly lost interest in them, but the hat was a keeper!

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year, we were invited to church in Mountain Home to be with our friends, the Rushings, in the afternoon. After church, we joined them for their Mother's Day steak dinner, then came home in the evening (after going to Starbucks, of course!).
I had to work on Saturday night, so on Saturday morning Anthony made me a yummy breakfast. That afternoon he came home with a beautiful bouquet of 2 dozen red roses, and a Starbucks for me to drink on my way to work, plus some other fabulous gifts from him and the kids for Mother's Day. What a great surprise, it was very sweet! I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family!
(My beautiful roses)

I do want to say how much I appreciate my mom. It's amazing how having kids of your own makes you appreciate and value your parents so much more. My mom is a very important part of my life, and such a great friend. (Not to mention a wonderful grandma!!) ...I love you, Mom!

This picture cracks me up. I was trying to get Talon to take a nap during church because he was so tired and cranky. I asked him if he wanted to sleep in Sissy's car seat. He happily sat down in it, but wasn't so happy when I told him to go to sleep.
Hard to believe he was still using it less than a year ago. He doesn't fit so well anymore!

5th Anniversary

We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on Friday, May 8th. My, how time flies! Anthony is such a wonderful husband and my very best friend. God has been very good to us over the past five years!
After we got married, we talked of going to Italy for our 5th anniversary. Well, needless to say, THAT didn't happen, but we did have a good time.
We left the kids with Anthony's parents and stayed the night in Twin Falls on Thursday night. We had a very relaxing time, and actually got to SLEEP IN. What a novelty that was! We went out for dinner on Thursday evening, and on Friday we tootled around Twin Falls. We went to visit Shoshone Falls- which was beautiful! We went on to see Thousand Springs and just enjoyed driving around in the beautiful weather. Of course, we had to make a trip to Starbucks and reminisce over a latte'! That night, after we picked up the kids, we went out for dinner. What a great weekend!

Little scooter

Kaitlyn loves to be independent and get around, but she insists on doing it by scooting on her back. Anthony says she reminds him of a frog. She's amazingly fast once she gets going! It's pretty funny.

Bedtime stories

I laid Kaitlyn on Talon's bed, and he picked up a book and started reading her a bedtime story. She laid there for the longest time and listened to him and looked at the pictures. Of course, LOOKING wasn't good enough for long, she had to get her hands on the book as well. He is such a great big brother, I love watching them interact. They are so cute together!

"Not Me!" Monday

I have decided to participate in "Not me!" Monday, so here it goes....

1) Of course, I did not eat oatmeal cake for breakfast that I did not make yesterday after my wonderful husband did not insist it would be good for Aunt Norma to try; and we had no idea we would have a whole cake to eat ourselves. Not me!

2) I did not waste a great deal of time on the computer today updating my blog instead of folding the three loads of laundry sitting on my kitchen table. Not me!

3) I did not stand outside on my back porch in my bathrobe and barbecue dinner tonight; and I most certainly did not wave at my neighbor (which happens to be my co-worker) as she did not drive by and see me! Nope, not me!

4) I did not clean off part of the kitchen counter this week (when we found out that company was coming at the last minute), by tossing all my unopened and unorganized mail into a bin. I did not then place the bin in my room to deal with later. Not me!

5) I did not give my son some blocks to play with at a restaurant this week while waiting for our food, only to have to take the block away from him after he dipped it in his ketchup and was licking it off. Not me!

6) I did not trip over our dog in the kitchen when I was running around making dinner, then get after her for getting in my way. Not me!

7) After listening intently to my husband as he rehashed the evening's events while I was at work, I did not start laughing at my son's wild imagination and mischievous antics (including trying to lock his dad out of the house), and I did not try to defend his reasoning for not minding when told to do something and laughing about it. Not this Mama!

8) And for sure, I didn't get after my husband a couple of days ago for not bringing the phone back upstairs when he was done using it, only to remember that I had used it last and left it on the kitchen counter. Definitely not me!

Now that you know what has NOT been going on around here, please feel free to leave me a comment about what you have NOT been up to. Have a great week!!

Time to brush

Talon likes to brush his teeth... especially with his new strawberry and bubblegum toothpaste. The rule is that Mommy brushes first, then it's his turn. After a while I have to cut him off so we preserve some enamel. He's getting so independent!
