Lazy Day Playtime

We were having a rather lazy morning, and I decided to snap a bunch of pictures of the kids. Nolan is starting to really like playing with his toys- especially the noisy ones! He likes to sit up, but still needs a bit of support. When you lay him flat on his back, he looks like he's trying to do sit-ups. He lifts his head and shoulders trying to sit up on his own.

Just doing a bit of reading.

Like I said... lazy morning. Thus the jammies and crazy hair!

Play time on the floor

Nolan loves his big brother, and Talon is really good with him.

Bunk beds

We got the kids bunk beds, and they are ecstatic about them! We had to rig them a bit so Kaitlyn wouldn't keep trying to get on the top bunk. She gets up the ladder great- that's not the problem. The problem exists when she tries to get down... she just turns around backwards and lets go. So, for now, there are a couple of steps missing from the ladder. We've done a few lessons with both of them on going up and down, but it's gonna take a few more before I trust them without us being right there.
They are doing really well being in the same room at night. They chat and carry on for maybe 10 minutes, then they are out.

New Specs

We bit the bullet and finally went and got eye exams this last week. It had been 9 years since I got my last pair of glasses... time for some new ones, I guess!

Oh yeah! Nothin' like gettin' your eyes dilated and not having sunglasses handy! I thought I would be fine, but I started getting a horrible headache and nauseous. So, I got to wear these stylin' things around for a couple of hours and make my honey proud! He offered me a paper bag to put over my head, I politely refused... these were so much more fun and stylish. Couldn't figure out why he wouldn't take me into Starbucks!

We both got new glasses.
Anthony's look great on him... don't you think?!?!

Yes, I am blind as a bat. These are a slight improvement to coke-bottle lenses, but not much. Thus the reason I primarily wear my contacts!

Happy 34th, Anthony!

Anthony turned 34 today!
We went out to dinner with his parents, then came home and had pie and ice cream for dessert. (With coffee, of course!)
We hope you had a terrific day, Daddy, and we love you so much!

Here is a picture of his gift from me and the kids....

First Haircut

Nolan got his first haircut today. I knew he probably wouldn't make it to a year, but I didn't think it would happen when he was only 5 months old either! He has started pulling out his hair around his ears, and with his bald spot in the back, it was getting to look like he was wearing a really bad toupee. So, we went to grandma's, and she gave him a haircut. He did really good, and looks so cute!! He looks like such a little boy! I'm hoping he'll quit pulling his hair out since he has nothing to grab on to now.

Mr. Faces

Yes, one of Nolan's favorite past times is playing in his ExerSaucer (as you can probably tell by many of my pictures). He loves to sit next to the window and look outside while he plays. He makes so many faces, it cracks me up!

It's feeding time again!

It cracks me up just watching the kids. Kaitlyn is such a natural mother when it comes to her babies... from how she holds and wraps them, to feeding and rocking them. Talon loves to do all the same things, but seems so left-footed about it. He doesn't quite know how to hold them, most bottle feedings look a little more like he's force feeding, and bundling them in blankets.... well, let's just say it's not his specialty!

Couldn't resist these pictures!

This one has to be my favorite of all. So sweet!

Cousins

Jess, Ruth, and Jessica rode a train from North Dakota, and came to visit. They surprised Anthony's parents one afternoon and showed up on their doorstep. Anthony's mom called and invited us over for dinner that night, and after we got in the door, they popped out of the back bedroom and surprised us. The visit seemed waaaaaay too short, and it was hard to see them leave, but we really enjoyed spending time with them. The kids had a blast playing and reading with Jessica, and Talon still talks about Uncle Jess playing with him. Can't wait until they come back for the family reunion in June.... and bring Jared and Jonathan with them!

Big Girl Bed

Look who's in a big girl bed!! We have decided to put Talon and Kaitlyn in the same room, and are getting a set of bunk beds for them. They are so excited and talk about it constantly. We thought it would be best if Nolan transitioned to the crib in his own room for a while. So to get Kaitlyn ready, I took the side rail off of her crib. She's a bit of a wild sleeper, so I expected she would fall out of bed a few times. The first night when I went in to check on her, her pillow was on the floor, and she was laying sideways in her bed. Hmmmm?!?! So I put her back on her pillow and tucked her in. The next morning, she seemed to be sleeping really late, so I went in to check on her. She was wide awake, laying in her bed, and talking really quietly to her baby doll. When I asked her, she said she did fall out of bed, but was emphatic that she didn't cry! Since then, I think she has fallen out a couple of times (due to the loud *thump* I have heard coming from her room). However, she never cries, and by the time I get in there to check on her, she's back in bed like nothing happened. She will lay in her bed in the morning, and holler that she wants out, but unlike her older brother, she never tries to escape her room. After her nap, she sits quietly on her bed and waits for me to come in to get her up. Such a big girl!

Our niece, Ashley, just turned a year old! She's already been walking for a while, and is on. the. move! She's getting quite a little personality. What a cutie!

Happy Birthday, Little Miss! Mmmm... cake!
